Sunlight Chasing Shadow

Shadow Diptych

Shadows caught my eye at our coffee log one morning on Billings Spit. There is a low concrete retaining wall close to where we sit for our morning coffe, and I happened to see the plant shadows cast against the wall. Simple lines and shadows traced upon a concrete canvas. The result is pleasing in its feelings of simplicity and yet complex in its presentation of color, light and line, pattern, texture and shadow. A little bit of nature's magic layered onto man made stone.

There is a fox den below this wall and while I waited for them to make an appearance, I saw these shadows. Shadows can be subject of their own.

Faces in the Shadows

I followed East Sooke Road, to Pike Road, then parked my car and I followed the hiking path down to Iron Mine Bay. There, I found faces in the shadows.
